Build a Full Summer on a Tight Budget

A season of plans for close to nothing. How to use the free filter without it feeling like settling.

  1. 1

    Set budget to Free only

On the generator, set the budget filter to Free only. Every item that comes back costs little to nothing, from sunrise watching to public-pool swims to free local events.

  2. 2

Lean into water and the outdoors

The highest-value free activities are water (a public pool, lake, or beach) and movement (a new trail, a long bike ride). Build the season around those and it won't feel cheap.

  3. 3

Make food a project, not a cost

A picnic packed at home beats a restaurant patio, and homemade lemonade or popsicles turn cheap ingredients into an activity. The making is half the fun.

  4. 4

    Add one give-back day

A beach or park cleanup is free, gets you outside, and ends the day feeling like it counted. It's the kind of item that makes a budget summer feel rich.
